About Maria J.K. Hars:
Growing up in an Architect’s home gave me insight on how form and function relate to one another. My father, the late Anthony Hars, Architect, was my mentor. Designing is in my blood.
Since 1988, I’ve worked in mortgage banking, residential real estate, residential design, and construction. My background enables me to create enjoyable living spaces for my client’s present and future lifestyles. “Many people have plenty of square footage but it’s how they use it is the problem. I offer solutions and show them how to live comfortably by redesigning their existing space.
Sustainability:
As a Sustainable Designer, “I believe I have a moral and ethical responsibility to my clients and the environment to design and build using sustainable practices which include using non-toxic materials. My motto: Healthy Living Starts at home.”
Tiny/Cottage homes: Square Footage is a state of mind:
For many years I’ve been interested in the tiny house movement. I designed and helped build a Sustainable Tiny Home on Wheels (THOW) which I affectionately call “The Linden Retreat” (both my parents’ surnames meant Linden Tree). Living in it for a full year through Montana’s seasons allowed me to fully understand what it really means to live and work Tiny. It was a fantastic experience, one that I would do again.”
It has been rented out on Airbnb, where I’ve obtained Superhost status four times in a row. People love tiny homes and I offered them a chance to stay and enjoy the experience.
I look forward to working with Clients and Tradespeople who want to create and restore homes using a sustainable approach. One of my visions is to create Affordable Sustainable housing for all income levels. Everyone deserves a place to call home.
