About Maria Hars

About Maria J.K. Hars:

Growing up in an Architect’s home gave me insight on how form and function relate to one another. My father, the late Anthony Hars, Architect, was my mentor. Designing is in my blood.

Since 1988, I’ve worked in mortgage banking, residential real estate, residential design, construction and horticulture. My background enables me to create enjoyable indoor and outdoor living spaces for my client’s present and future lifestyles. “Many people have plenty of square footage but it’s how they use it is the problem. I offer solutions and show them how to live comfortably by redesigning their existing space.

Tiny/Cottage homes: Square Footage is a State of Mind:

For many years I’ve been interested in the tiny house movement. I designed and helped build a Sustainable Tiny Home on Wheels (THOW) which I affectionately called “The Linden Retreat” (both my parents’ surnames meant Linden Tree). Living in it for a full year through Montana’s seasons allowed me to fully understand what it really means to live and work Tiny. It was a fantastic experience, one that I would do again.”

It has been rented out on Airbnb, where I’ve obtained Superhost status four times in a row. People love tiny homes and I offered them a chance to stay and enjoy the experience.

Back in the Garden

I look forward to working with Clients and Tradespeople who want to create and restore homes and gardens using a sustainable approach. One of my visions is to create Affordable Sustainable Agri-hoods  for all income levels. Everyone deserves a place to call home.
